Job Summary
Coordinate the SDVCJ project funded by the Department of Justice, managing grant compliance, timelines, and budget while chairing monthly meetings and disseminating agendas and minutes. Lead multi-disciplinary teams to review Tribal Codes, draft revisions, and propose sentencing requirements to the Tribal Council, ensuring alignment with federal and tribal laws. Develop and implement training for law enforcement, prosecutors, and court personnel, while gathering data to establish digital records management strategies. Collaborate with stakeholders to refine domestic violence protocols and coordinate with tribal and non-tribal criminal justice agencies. Complete required reporting, attend national and state conferences, and evaluate project outcomes to assess funding viability and sustainability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or Social and Behavioral Sciences
- A combination of education and work experience in the legal, victim advocacy, or criminal justice fields
- Valid unrestricted Driver's License
- Insurable by GTB's insurance carrier
- Grand Traverse Band Program Director Certification
- Successful completion of Program Director Training
- Administration/ Coordination training and experience
- Must be willing and able to pass a criminal history background check with no felonies or serious misdemeanors
- Must be willing and able to pass a drug and alcohol urinalysis
- Ability to operate an automobile in the course of assigned duties
- Must be able to travel throughout the six-county service area
- Must be able to attend state/national trainings/meetings
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to drive a car
- Excellent time management, organization, and follow-through skills
- Ability to effectively establish priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in computer using Microsoft Windows Operating System and Office Suite
- Maintain highest level of confidentiality of all matters involved in this position
- Native American Preference

- Work with persons of diverse ages, races, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Knowledge of legal terminology and practices
- Knowledge of Tribal, local, state, and Federal laws
- Knowledge of victim issues, judicial processes and community resources for prisoner housing, code development/revision, and policies or procedures
