Job Summary

Lead and direct an experienced, technically diverse engineering team responsible for planning, organizing, developing and managing engineering processes that govern system development and sustainment across the SDS program portfolio. Accountable for assessment, consolidation, and development of common processes and trainings across all engineering disciplines; manage engineering tools and applications; coordinate with sectors, academia, and industry to identify and leverage existing tools and practices. Ensure horizontally integrated and consistent skill development across engineering disciplines; partner with program management, HR, and sector engineering to address critical skill needs; define division technical rotation programs and SME-selection processes; emphasize development of processes around modern model-based methods for a full digital engineering transformation; own technical review authority, process audit and enforcement; lead planning, budgeting, and staff forecasting for contract direct and indirect budgets; support industry conferences and STEM partnerships. A successful candidate will excel at navigating ambiguity, demonstrate urgency and accountability, and foster an intentional culture focused on individual and organizational development; collaborate across organizational lines and disciplines to achieve goals; possess proven expertise in engineering discipline(s) with notable technical accomplishments; strong communication and leadership capabilities. Primary level salary range noted. This is a full-time Director-level role within Northrop Grumman Defense Systems offering a comprehensive benefits package and a 9/80 work schedule with potential relocation support and travel.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • at least 10 years of engineering experience
  • Minimum 3 years of formal leadership experience for multi-discipline engineering populations and teams
  • Experience with product development life cycle and interactions among engineering disciplines
  • Experience with model-based engineering methods and tools
  • US Citizenship with an active U.S. Government Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
  • Travel up to 25%
