Job Summary
Provide operational support for the sculpture shop and related classrooms, overseeing daily studio functions, inventory and procurement, safety compliance, and facility maintenance. Collaborate with Art Department faculty to support metal fabrication, woodworking, and moldmaking activities; operate and supervise use of shop machinery (MIG welder, oxy-acetylene torch, plasma cutter, saws, kiln, and related equipment); manage budgets and materials for sculpture courses and tutorials; train and mentor teaching assistants and students in studio resources and safety practices; contribute to interdisciplinary projects and department events; maintain professional communication with staff and faculty while delivering reliable, flexible support during a 10-month academic year.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- 2 years of experience
- technical skills in metal fabrication, woodworking, and moldmaking
- experience with MIG welder, oxy-acetylene torch, plasma cutter, grinders, and woodworking tools
- ability to manage inventory and procurement
- ability to ensure safety compliance and operate sculpture shop equipment
- ability to instruct and support students in studio resources
- ability to manage budgets and ordering materials
- ability to work with diverse group of students and staff
- strong time management and communication skills
- physical ability to lift 50 lbs and operate large shop machinery
- in-person work arrangement
