Scrum Leader - Engine Controls

Job Summary
Facilitate Agile ceremonies including iteration planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives while serving as the Scrum team's Subject Matter Expert for product content. Collaborate with the Scrum Manager and ART leadership to align team objectives, manage the Kanban board, and eliminate impediments blocking progress. Coach team members on disciplined engineering practices such as BDD and TDD, mentor staff through career check-ins, and drive continuous improvement in velocity, quality, and predictability. Report to Milford, Michigan three times weekly in a hybrid role, requiring a Bachelor of Science in engineering and five years of embedded software experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics
- Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded software development
- Proven understanding of Agile principles and ability to coach others in their application
- Experience leading or facilitating engineering teams through complex software delivery efforts
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, resolve conflict, and drive alignment across multiple stakeholders
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management skills
- Experienced at planning, preparing for and leading meetings
- Effective interpersonal skills that focus and influence others, including those which may have priority differences with yours
- Understanding of Embedded Controls Development & Delivery Process
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and assignments with autonomy and accountability for results
- Consistent demonstration of innovative thinking that is customer-centric
- Experience with C/C++/Python and MATLAB/Simulink modeling
- Must be able to report to Milford, Michigan three times per week, at minimum
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in a field of Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics
- 8+ years of experience in Engine or Transmission Controls and Software development
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) training or certifications
- Experience in the GM component specification and release process
- Experience with customer interface technologies
- Familiarity with GM controls architecture, plant modeling, and SDV
- Experience with diagnostics, engine and transmission development, OBD-II, or ASIL standards
- DFSS Black Belt certification
- Demonstrated ability to work in a Global environment
- Experience in plant modeling and analysis tools, MIL, SIL, HIL Testing
