Job Summary
Medical Scribe will create and amend office notes for the attending physician, source medical records from outside organizations in advance for new and established clinic patients, inspect and scan documents into the electronic health record, and communicate with patients before, during and after visits to ensure necessary information is collected and shared with relevant providers. Duties include collecting medical records per HIPAA standards, producing reports and administrative material, editing dictated material for spelling, grammar, and proper medical terminology, identifying mistakes and confirming information with doctors. Primary duties occur in the outpatient clinic setting with possible inpatient consults.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with creating, editing, and compiling medical documents using proper vocabulary and grammar
- College degree preferred
- Medical Scribe training and experience preferred
- Knowledge and experience with computers and medical records software preferred
- Communication skills to communicate with health care professionals and patients about patient information and work assignments
- Ability to keep patient information confidential
- Professional appearance
- Strong medical terminology
- Excellent work ethic, including integrity, positive attitude, productive, organized, treats leadership with respect, excellent attendance, continuously learning and willing to ask for help
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a detail oriented, fast-paced setting with medical office co-workers.
