Job Summary
Scribe provides essential documentation and administrative support in an ophthalmology clinic. Responsible for recording doctor-patient interactions in real time, maintaining complete and accurate medical records in the EHR, transcribing orders for labs/imaging/medications, and assisting with clinical coordination to optimize physician workflow. Documents diagnoses, symptoms, procedures, and follow-up instructions; accompanies doctors into exam rooms; supports charge capture and billing documentation; ensures HIPAA confidentiality and professional conduct. Requires ability to multi-task in a busy, multi-site clinic, travel between clinic locations as needed, and strong attention to detail in fast-paced environments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior ophthalmic technician or medical scribe experience required
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation practices preferred but not required
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and computer applications
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Ophthalmic Scribe Certified (OSC) preferred but not required
