Job Summary
Operate asphalt paver and screed to apply material to road beds, parking lots, and airport runways, adjusting controls for proper depth, grade, and cross-section. Guide dump trucks to the hopper while performing maintenance tasks like greasing equipment and making operational adjustments. Execute additional duties as instructed by the foreman to meet daily production schedules. This role requires one to two years of asphalt experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work in varied weather conditions, including nights, weekends, and overtime. Travel and away work are required. H&K provides comprehensive training through the H&K Academy and manufacturer programs to support skill development.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required
- Be willing to work overtime, nights and weekends when necessary
- Must have strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Communication skills; Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors and the general public in a courteous, professional manner at all times
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
Desired Qualifications
- One to two years related asphalt and road construction experience preferred
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments
- Ability to operate or initiative to learn to operate other equipment required on an asphalt crew
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving
