Job Summary
Operate paving screeds, rollers, pavers, Gannon tractors, and front-end loaders to apply asphalt products efficiently according to project specifications. Perform pre-shift equipment inspections, conduct daily general housekeeping, and execute maintenance, repair, and service as required. Assist in job layout, set up and tear down equipment, and maintain constant communication with paving staff, drivers, and laborers. Work outside in all weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures, while lifting 80 lb. objects and using hand tools to move material. Adhere strictly to O.S.H.A. safety guidelines and company policies, demonstrating willingness to travel statewide to different job sites.
Required Qualifications
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 or more years of Screed Operator experience
- Valid driver's license and have a clean motor-vehicle record to meet company insurance guidelines
- Have knowledge of slope and grade controls
- Have basic knowledge of screed designs and operations and basic principles of paving
- Willing to work in a team environment
- Willing to travel to different job sites and projects statewide
- Must demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards
- Mechanical knowledge of equipment and being able to perform routine maintenance
- Must be able to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment
- Must be able to balance at heights up to 6 feet from ground level
- Must be able to be on your feet regularly
- Must be able to use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job
- Must be able to frequently walk on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces
- Must be able to work in confined areas
- Must wear proper attire at all times including safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image
- Must work outside for long periods of time in all weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
- Individual must be able to lift objects weighing 80 lb. on a regular basis
- The use of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, etc. to move material will be necessary
- Must be able to operate an Asphalt Paver Screed according to project specifications
- Must be able to operate and maintain Screed Machines with little or no supervision
- Must be able to perform pre-shift inspections on equipment prior to startup
- Must be able to have constant contact with other paving staff, drivers and laborers
- Must be able to assist in job layout
- Must be able to set up and tear down equipment
- Must be able to perform general service and maintaining equipment daily
- Must be able to perform general housekeeping of equipment and plant daily
- Must be able to perform general maintenance, repair, and service equipment as required or directed by supervisor
- Must be able to perform all duties within safety guidelines set up by O.S.H.A. and company policy

Desired Qualifications
- Experience with a CAT 1055 or F model is highly preferred
