Job Summary
Yard Operator responsible for supporting yard operations, including scrap inspection, grading, and processing to meet quality and environmental standards. Duties include operating loaders/handling equipment, assisting with rail-operations tasks where applicable, coordinating with the scale operator and supervisors, ensuring radiation scanning of incoming scrap and quarantine of any non-compliant material, documenting quality deductions, maintaining a clean and safe work area, delivering customer service, and supporting non-ferrous processing and stage/timing for torching where applicable. Must follow safety/environmental procedures and uphold Gerdau’s core values; occasional equipment care and collaboration with maintenance and inventory tasks are expected.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred.
- Demonstrated willingness to develop skills in yard operations.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate material handling equipment (cranes, loaders, balers) and perform routine maintenance.
