Job Summary
Direct and oversee all phases of material and equipment procurement from requisition through sourcing, purchase order award, expediting, receipt, inspection, and delivery to production for ship newbuilding and major marine construction programs. Maximize financial returns through effective supplier negotiation, cost control, inventory management, and strategic sourcing decisions while ensuring materials are procured safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual requirements. Plan, direct, and coordinate all aspects of supply chain, procurement, logistics, and warehousing operations, establishing sourcing strategies, performance metrics, and reporting systems for assigned projects. Review and approve major purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and change orders in conjunction with Corporate Legal Counsel. Lead strategic planning efforts related to sourcing strategy, supplier development, and procurement system investments. Interview, hire, develop, and retain supply chain personnel while providing leadership and coaching to direct reports. Ensure compliance with Gulf Copper Mission Statement, Quality Management System, and all applicable regulatory, classification society, and customer requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible supply chain, procurement, or materials management experience in shipbuilding, vessel construction, heavy industrial construction, offshore fabrication, or marine project environments
- Demonstrated experience managing procurement and materials planning for large, complex newbuild vessel programs and multidiscipline project teams
- CSCP or CPSM certification, MBA, or advanced technical degree
- Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and / or rainy weather
- Computer systems and standard office equipment
- Enterprise resource planning (ERP), materials requirements planning (MRP), and shipyard production management systems
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
