Job Summary
Work independently on mineral processing and characterization projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams on wet grinding, dry grinding, surface modification, and high-temperature mineral expansion. Generate, collect, and review process data to compile scientific information for decision-makers while identifying improvement opportunities and implementing innovative technologies. Guide technicians and associate scientists by assigning work packages, providing technical assistance during execution, and ensuring data accuracy. Translate stakeholder requests into defined work packages, plan experiments, and provide troubleshooting support to production plants. Maintain accurate documentation, prepare reports, and communicate clearly with diverse technical audiences. Apply the scientific method and statistical design processes to develop value-creating solutions, utilizing Omya IP processes for protecting value. Adhere to the highest SHE standards and Omya values.
Required Qualifications
- University Degree in Science or Engineering Field
- Good command of both oral and written English and German
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge in an appropriate natural scientific discipline
- Willingness to do practical laboratory work
- Ability to work independently
- Display innovative thinking
- Ability to work in a team
- Consistently applies the scientific method or statistical design processes
- Good project management skills
- Understanding of data-driven approaches, including AI and machine learning, is preferred
- Occasional travel may be required
- Willingness to work primarily on-site, with up to one day per week of remote work
