Job Summary
Scientist at QML Pathology in Brisbane, Australia. This part-time/partially supported role (described as a part-time scientist with rotation across early to late shifts, including weekends and public holidays) requires holding a Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science, with a focus on haematology and transfusion science. Responsibilities include performing manual and automated diagnostic testing from specimen reception to results for pathological diagnosis, specimen dissection, stock control, records maintenance, equipment upkeep, keeping current scientific knowledge, participating in QA/audit activities, contributing to development of new assays, training staff, liaising with referring practitioners, and ensuring compliance with policies, WHS, and QA processes. The position may entail additional shifts at other metro labs as required. The role emphasizes independence, quality, and collaborative teamwork within a large network of laboratories, and vaccination history may be required. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective discipline
- Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
- Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
- An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
