Job Summary
Scientist III responsible for development, formulation, and optimization of solvent-free and solvent-based polyurethane and polyester adhesives for flexible packaging. Tasks include NPD, reformulation, and cost optimization; conduct lab-scale synthesis, testing, and characterization of materials; evaluate raw materials, resins, polyols, isocyanates, catalysts, and additives for performance and regulatory compliance; support scale-up from lab to pilot plant; assess substrate compatibility with BOPP/PET/CPP/PE/nylon/metallized films; ensure bond strength, chemical/heat/aging resistance; collaborate with production, quality, and technical service; maintain documentation and ensure safety/regulatory compliance (REACH, FDA); participate in cross-functional teams and customer trials; travel for trials and meetings. Minimum education and experience requirements included; travel expectations noted.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in chemistry or related field
- 5 years’ experience in R&D of adhesives, coatings, or polymer systems (flexible packaging experience preferred) OR Master of Science in chemistry with 2 years’ experience
- Knowledge of adhesives industry and lamination adhesives
- Experience with lab equipment and analytical tools
- Understanding of polyurethane and polyester chemistry (preferred)
- Travel <20%
