Job Summary

Deploy chemical proteomics to interrogate biology and identify novel opportunities for small molecule drug discovery by characterizing the interaction of small molecule ligands with their protein targets. Support efforts to enable ligand discovery against high-impact targets using a combination of proteomic, cellular, and biochemical methods. Operate and maintain orbitrap mass spectrometers and associated nano-LC systems while acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting proteomics datasets. Prepare samples for MS analysis utilizing workflows that include peptide, protein, or PTM enrichment. Maintain mammalian cell lines, perform transient transfections, and generate stable cell lines. Conduct cell-based assays to characterize the functional effects of tool compounds on biological pathways, protein-protein interactions, and cellular proliferation. This role supports Vividion's proprietary chemical proteomics platform for screening and optimizing novel drugs targeting undruggable proteins in oncology and immunology.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in mass-spectrometry based proteomics or chemical biology
  • Experience operating and maintaining orbitrap mass spectrometers and associated nano-LC systems
  • Demonstrated experience in acquiring, analyzing and interpreting proteomics datasets and familiarity with common MS software suites
  • Experience preparing samples for MS analysis utilizing workflows that include peptide enrichment, protein enrichment or PTM enrichment
  • Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, including cell line maintenance, transient transfections, stable cell line generation
  • Understanding of cell-based assays for characterization of the functional effects of tool compounds on biological pathways, protein-protein interactions, and cellular proliferation

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills within a setting of cross-functional program teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced research environment
  • Attention to detail and good organization and documentation habits
  • Self-motivated problem solver with a strong sense of independently developing experimental strategies to address key needs
