Job Summary

Oversee sample processing and preparation, including complex extraction techniques, while performing routine diagnostic testing for USDA regulatory diseases and surveillance programs. Interpret complex test results requiring subjective evaluation, review and release Technician work, and communicate findings to clients. Troubleshoot assay errors and instrument problems, implement new technologies, and maintain laboratory equipment and safety protocols. Mentor Technicians, write standard operating procedures, and assist in assay development and validation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field
  • Two years of related experience
  • Pre-exposure rabies vaccination series
  • Onsite work during normal business hours M-F 8 am – 5 pm
  • Flex scheduling by working 9 am - 6 pm
  • Saturday rotation with fellow staff members
  • Visa sponsorship eligibility
  • Closed-toed shoes and long pants attire
  • Security-sensitive clearance
  • Criminal history investigation completion
  • Credential verification
  • Export-control authorization

Desired Qualifications

  • Two+ years technical experience in scientific research, clinical, experimental or diagnostic work
  • Experience working within a quality assurance and safety program
  • Ability to independently report laboratory results
  • Ability to troubleshoot routine technical and scientific problems and recommend solutions
  • Ability to understand more advanced computer software programs, including programs for data analysis, statistical analysis, graphing, etc.
