Job Summary
Execute approved work plans for protein science projects in early drug discovery workflows, delivering timely and accurate results to project specifications. Design, clone, and optimize expression constructs for recombinant protein production in E. coli, insect, and mammalian systems to maximize yield and functionality. Assess quality via SDS-PAGE and Western blot, while troubleshooting complex expression challenges with data-driven solutions. Support multiple projects across modalities and therapeutic areas, including neuroscience, oncology, and metabolic diseases, by making day-to-day technical decisions.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or a Degree with corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline
- Relevant experience in industry
- Technical knowledge of protein expression
- Proven ability to deliver results across target families within agreed timelines and budget
- Meeting agreed quality criteria
- Design, clone, and optimise expression constructs for recombinant protein production in E. coli, insect (Baculovirus and S2), and mammalian systems
- Execute small‐to large‐scale expression experiments to maximise yield, solubility, and functionality
- Assess quality via SDS‐PAGE, Western blot, and related analytics
- Troubleshoot complex expression challenges with creative, data‐driven solutions
- Understanding of scientific and technical background of experiments
- Experience of precise execution of workplans
- Some independence, making day-to-day technical decisions
- Follow training provided on the correct use and maintenance of lab equipment
- Location: Hybrid, Abingdon, Oxfordshire
- Temporary Fixed Term Contract
- Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
