Job Summary
Analytical Scientist I (Contract) within Protein Development and Clinical Manufacturing responsible for development and execution of analytical methods to support measurement of titer, impurities, and product quality for in-process intermediates. Primary duties include establishing and optimizing analytical methods for biologics (HPLC: SEC, IEX/AEX; GFP assays; protein quantification), designing and implementing automated high-throughput workflows (liquid handling, robotic platforms such as Tecan, Big Tuna), data analysis and interpretation of complex datasets for lysate activity and protein characterization, precise sample preparation and plate-based assays, collaborative design with cross-functional SMEs, rigorous ELN documentation (Benchling), and independent project ownership from method development through routine testing and troubleshooting. Requires strong scientific judgment, independence, and thorough record keeping; located in San Carlos, CA; 12-month contract; hourly range $62-$68.
Required Qualifications
- Education: PhD with 1-2 yrs experience, or B.S in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with minimum 8 years relevant industry experience; MS with minimum 5 years of industry experience.
