Job Summary
The Scientist supports innovation-driven preclinical biological research on new ingredients and technologies. This role contributes to the innovation pipeline and claim substantiation through independent experimental execution, data interpretation, and day-to-day laboratory support across assigned projects. Design, execute, and optimize cell culture and other preclinical biological studies in support of innovation, ingredient evaluation, and claim substantiation. Support screening, evaluation, and efficacy testing of raw materials, technologies, and experimental approaches. Perform biochemical and immunochemical techniques, including histology, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy. Analyze, interpret, and summarize experimental data, and recommend next steps based on project objectives and study outcomes. Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely laboratory documentation, records, and study summaries. Communicate study progress, technical findings, and key learnings to project teams and stakeholders. Identify opportunities to improve laboratory methods, processes, and systems to support efficiency, quality, and business agility. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners to advance innovation programs and support broader R&D objectives. Contribute to a collaborative laboratory environment by sharing knowledge and supporting team goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline
- 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience in academic, industrial, or preclinical research settings
- Hands-on experience with cell culture and standard laboratory practices
- Experience with biochemical and immunochemical techniques, including ELISA and Western blotting, as well as histology, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and fluorescent imaging
- Experience supporting preclinical research, biological model systems, or related efficacy testing
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, independently execute experiments, and draw sound conclusions from data
- Strong documentation, organization, and record-keeping skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate results and recommendations
- Basic understanding of statistics and data interpretation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
- Demonstrated critical thinking, curiosity, adaptability, and a strong motivation to learn and contribute in a fast-paced laboratory environment
