Job Summary
Scientist I at CSL Seqirus, based at the Holly Springs site, is a full-time onsite role focused on supporting Upstream development activities for influenza vaccine processes. You will work with a cross-functional team to develop and optimize mammalian cell culture seed trains and perform virology and cell culture experiments, including virus culture sampling, processing, and assay work. The role involves designing small-scale bioreactor experiments (ambr15/ambr250) using DOE principles, potentially supporting pilot-scale studies, troubleshooting instrument issues, and maintaining rigorous laboratory documentation. Communication of results through technical documents and presentations, adherence to SOPs and GMP requirements, and collaboration with colleagues and management are key components of the position.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Virology, Molecular Biology or related field
- 3+ years of experience in R&D/Development setting
- Experience with handling and cultivation of mammalian cell culture
- Experience with small scale bioreactors and automated liquid handling systems
- Knowledge of operation of cell culture laboratory equipment and instruments (bioreactors, bioanalyzers, cell counters, centrifuges, etc.)
- Knowledge of statistical techniques such as Design of Experiments (DOE) is desired
- Ability to work with cross functional teams
