Job Summary
Scientist I responsible for supporting Upstream development activities for influenza vaccine processes, including mammalian cell culture seed train (shake flasks, bioreactors) and aseptic handling of cell cultures. Executes experiments related to virology and mammalian cell culture, designs small-scale experiments to optimize growth and infection conditions, and conducts bioreactor experiments (ambr15/ambr250) using DOE and statistical analysis. May participate in pilot-scale studies, troubleshoots instrument failures, and summarizes/analyzes data. Maintains lab documentation and communicates results to colleagues and management; adheres to SOPs and GMP requirements. Requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and a Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Virology or Molecular Biology with 3+ years of R&D experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Virology, Molecular Biology or related field
- 3+ years of experience in R&D/Development setting
- Experience with handling and cultivation of mammalian cell culture
- Experience with small scale bioreactors and automated liquid handling systems
- Knowledge of operation of cell culture laboratory equipment and instruments (bioreactors, bioanalyzers, cell counters, centrifuges)
- Knowledge of statistical techniques such as Design of Experiments (DOE) is desired
- Ability to work with cross functional teams
