Job Summary
Scientist 1 in Analytical Development will independently plan and execute simple lab experiments, support qualification of analytical methods for API/intermediates/final drug products, and communicate results to cross-functional teams and clients. The role requires hands-on work with chromatography (HPLC/UPLC, GC), UV/Vis, dissolution, moisture analysis, and physical characterization (TGA, DSC, PXRD, GVS, SEM). Responsibilities include developing cleaning verification methods, troubleshooting and optimizing methods, performing qualification studies for method transfer to QC, maintaining accurate lab notebooks, and potentially leading technical discussions with clients. The position is on-site in San Diego, CA, with a salary range of $78,000–$85,000 annually, and requires a Bachelor's degree (MS considered with preferred additional experience). Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline
- Minimum of 1 year of analytical development experience (MS without industry experience also considered)
- Proficiency with analytical techniques including HPLC/UPLC, GC, UV/Vis, dissolution testing, moisture analysis (Karl Fischer)
- Experience with physical characterization techniques (TGA, DSC, PXRD, GVS, SEM)
- Ability to develop and qualify analytical test methods for API, intermediates, and final drug products
- Strong data interpretation and record-keeping skills; good scientific writing
- Clear communication skills and ability to interact with clients and cross-functional teams
- GMP knowledge and attention to compliance
