Job Summary
Conduct installation, acceptance testing, and functional validation of new medical equipment, including hardware, software, and connectivity systems. Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and electrical safety inspections per NFPA 99 and manufacturer specifications. Execute repairs to restore device integrity, manage decommissioning and relocation, and provide training on operator-level maintenance and system administration. Serve on healthcare committees and lead performance improvement teams to support clinical services and research.
Required Qualifications
- Experience within a medical center and Biomedical Engineering department
- Experience working in or with the National Institute of Health (NIH)
- Experience in Biomedical Engineering department operations
- A two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science
- Equivalent military training
- Demonstrated competency to perform operational verification procedures
- Demonstrated competency to perform planned maintenance
- Demonstrated competency to perform repair service on various medical equipment
- Understanding of regulatory agencies' requirements
- Understanding of industry regulatory requirements
- Understanding of International Standard Organization standards
- Familiarity with the setup and application of test equipment
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret schematics
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings
- Level III Experience
- A minimum of five years of hospital or healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance
- Bachelor's degree in BioMed Technology
- Education in a similar field to BioMed Technology
- Location in Baltimore
- Onsite work requirement
- The ability to obtain a government moderate background security clearance
