Job Summary
Lead strategic direction and advance disease biology insights across the Diabetes Therapeutic Area by progressing novel targets and emerging mechanisms of action. Integrate human cohorts, clinical datasets, biomarkers, and omics data to define target validation and precision medicine strategies. Partner with TA Leadership, Medical Directors, and cross-functional teams to influence portfolio decisions, align biological rationale with development priorities, and drive go/no-go recommendations. Build external scientific networks, identify partnership opportunities, and represent the organization through presentations and publications. Progress programs efficiently through pipeline milestones while ensuring global scalability and inclusive collaboration across R&D, translational science, and commercial functions.
Required Qualifications
- PhD from an accredited university
- 7+ years of experience
- MD/DO from an accredited university
- 3+ years of experience
- A diabetes drug discovery SME
- A high level of creativity & curiosity
- A strong innovative mindset
- Expert level understanding of scientific & translational challenges related to drug development in T1D
- Previous experience in industry
- A proven track record of coordinating and obtaining buy-in from internal & external stakeholders
- Ability to influence without direct authority
