Job Summary
Conduct one-on-one science instruction for students in grades K–12, focusing on conceptual understanding, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving rather than rote memorization. Deliver tailored lessons in life, earth, physical, and test preparation science while identifying and closing gaps in foundational knowledge. Communicate progress and strategy with families and align sessions with personalized academic roadmaps. Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism throughout sessions.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience in science
- Deep expertise in at least one of the science subjects listed above
- Experience working with motivated students who are in honors, Pre-AP, AP, gifted, or test prep settings
- A track record of helping students improve grades, build confidence, or master concepts they previously struggled with
- Clear, patient communication and the ability to make science click for students who think they're 'not a science person'
- Professional reliability
Desired Qualifications
- current or former science teachers, scientists, engineers, medical professionals, or STEM researchers who tutor
- educators with degrees in biology, chemistry, physics, or science education
- tutors with experience coaching science fair or STEM competitions
