Job Summary
Science tutors are responsible for assisting students in various science disciplines, including General Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology. Candidates should possess a thorough understanding of the subjects they will tutor and are expected to have an Associate degree or higher in a relevant field. Tutors must demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, analytical skills, and a commitment to supporting a diverse student population. Responsibilities include meeting with students one-on-one or in small groups, utilizing a personalized approach to enhance understanding of course material, participating in professional development activities, and maintaining accurate records. Certification with College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) training is required within the first year of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of the subject(s) that they will tutor
- An Associate degree or above in the discipline or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- A grade of B or above in each course the candidate intends to tutor
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- An interest in working with a diverse population of students
- Patience and a genuine desire to help others learn and succeed
