Job Summary
Deliver high-quality, standards-aligned science instruction to grades 9–12 while serving as a trusted advisor to students. Differentiate lessons to meet diverse academic and social-emotional needs, using assessments to monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and data in compliance with state requirements. Build strong relationships with advisees, facilitating college and career readiness lessons and supporting goal-setting skills. Collaborate with counselors and staff to address student needs, communicate regularly with families, and participate in professional learning communities. Uphold Georgia Department of Education policies and ethical standards while contributing to school culture. Open August 2026; full-time, exempt position in Savannah, Georgia.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid or eligible Georgia teaching certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) in the appropriate content area OR eligibility for certification through a GaPSC-approved pathway (e.g., Provisional, Charter School Waiver, or Nontraditional Certification, if applicable)
- Ability to pass required Georgia background checks and employment verification
- Knowledge of the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE)
- Strong classroom management and instructional delivery skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities with students, families, and colleagues
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a growth mindset
- Proficiency with educational technology and student information systems
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and move throughout the building to observe classrooms and activities
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally (books, materials, equipment)
- Work may include occasional evening or weekend hours for events, meetings, or emergencies
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred credential or specialization in Science studies
- Preferred experience teaching Science at the high school level
- Preferred experience teaching at the high school level
- Preferred experience working in a charter school or non-traditional educational setting
- Preferred training or experience in advisory programs, mentoring, or social-emotional learning (SEL)
- Strong data-driven instruction and student intervention experience
