Job Summary

Provide individual and small group tutoring to students hitting barriers in science coursework, diagnosing gaps and reteaching concepts before returning them to independent study. Build underlying skills in scientific vocabulary, technical reading, data interpretation, and laboratory reasoning while tracking recurring barriers across the roster. Meet one on one with each assigned student to review graduation plans, monitor credit progress, and deliver targeted interventions when students fall behind pace. Create individualized learning plans that set forth the path to graduation and update goals as needed. Monitor course progress and engagement data on an ongoing basis, escalating to support services when interventions do not produce measurable movement. Establish trusting relationships with students and parents to advance progress toward graduation. This hybrid role serves a roster of approximately 80 students on site and online, with success defined by maintaining an average of 0.5 monthly credit earned rate.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a science discipline or a related field
  • A valid Arizona secondary teaching certificate with a science endorsement
  • Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • At least 3 years of experience teaching high school science
  • Occasional evening and weekend work

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience serving credit deficient, dropout recovery, or alternative student populations
