Science Department Chair

Department Chair at Seymour Middle School serves as an instructional leader who supports teachers, strengthens curriculum, and promotes student achievement. This role collaborates with building administrators and staff to ensure alignment with district goals, provides guidance on best practices, and helps foster a positive, student-centered learning environment. Responsibilities include providing instructional leadership to support high-quality, standards-aligned instruction; collaborating with teachers to implement research-based practices; analyzing assessment data to guide instructional decision-making; leading department teams in assessments to improve outcomes; coordinating professional learning and training; communicating with administration to ensure progress toward instructional goals; maintaining records and participating in required meetings and events; and upholding Board policies and expectations. Education required: Bachelor's degree in Education and Valid Indiana teaching certificate.
