Job Summary
Provide academic instruction for students who are deaf and hard of hearing in a residential education setting. Deliver 75% of instruction in individual and small-group formats in academic areas such as reading, math, science, and other areas as required by IEPs for K-12 placement. Plan instructional activities, prepare IEPs, attend to individual student progress and behavior, prepare report cards, supervise teaching assistants and student teachers, and coordinate with residential and academic staff. Administer, proctor, and document state-m mandated tests and portfolios; communicate with off-campus programs; serve as liaison between residential and academic staff and parents; plan field trips and implement IEP-related responsibilities; maintain compliance with state testing policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Education and Experience language allowing equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to provide instruction to deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a residential education setting
- Experience in developing and implementing IEPs
- Ability to coordinate with residential and academic staff and liaise with parents and local educational agencies
- Proficiency with administering state-mandated tests and inventories
- Knowledge of state policies/procedures for testing
- Strong planning and organizational skills
