Job Summary
Transport students safely and courteously in accordance with all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and local policies by following assigned routes and schedules to pick up and drop off students at designated stops. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety checks of the vehicle, including lights, brakes, tires, and emergency exits, while maintaining a safe, orderly environment inside. Assist students in boarding and exiting safely, including securing wheelchairs or other mobility devices as required. Report any delays, mechanical defects, or incidents immediately to dispatch and management, and attend all required safety and training meetings. Perform vehicle maintenance duties such as sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows, and adhere to Rohrer Bus policies and all applicable federal and state laws.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Minimum of 3 years of satisfactory driving history
- 21 years of age or older
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to pass initial and routine physical examinations and drug/alcohol screening programs
- Comfortable using or learning fleet and workforce technology systems such as Samsara (GPS/vehicle tracking) and Dayforce (scheduling/HR)
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Ability to manage time effectively across assigned routes
- Ability to cooperate and communicate professionally and respectfully with school personnel, parents, and students
- Ability to withstand varying indoor/outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures and adverse weather
- Ability to perform all job functions in the safest manner, adhering to Rohrer Bus policies and all applicable federal and state laws
