Job Summary
Transport students safely to and from school on scheduled routes as a Type 10 Driver, ensuring the vehicle is safe, managing student behavior, and following district policies and Oregon laws. Responsible for pre-trip and post-trip inspections, assisting special needs students (including wheelchair and safety equipment), loading/unloading procedures, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and documenting reports. Must learn routes, maintain regular attendance, attend required trainings, and operate the Type 10 vehicle safely in varying conditions while upholding safety and discipline standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License
- Possession of or Ability to obtain an Oregon Type 10 Passenger Driver Certificate within 2 weeks of hire
- Possession of driving record that meets standards
- Pass pre-employment alcohol/controlled substances tests; subject to random and post-accident testing
- Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal background check clearance
- Three years of experience driving personal and/or commercial vehicles
- Knowledge of State and District laws governing Type 10 vehicle operation
- Ability to read, write, speak English sufficiently to communicate with the public and generate reports
- Maintain safe driving record and appropriate licensure and certification
- Maintain confidentiality
