Job Summary
Provide individual and group support to students facing social, emotional, or family challenges while conducting assessments to develop intervention plans. Deliver crisis intervention for students in emotional or behavioral distress and collaborate with teachers, administrators, and outside agencies to create student support plans. Build relationships with parents and guardians, coordinate referrals to community resources, and conduct home visits when appropriate. Assist with child welfare concerns, fulfill mandated reporting responsibilities, and maintain accurate, confidential student records. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, student support teams, and IEP meetings as needed to support school-wide social-emotional learning initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Michigan School Social Worker Approval through the Michigan Department of Education or eligibility to obtain approval.
- Completion of the required supervised social work practicum.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children, adolescents, or families in a school, charter school, community, behavioral health, or healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and community resources.
- Understanding of mandated reporting requirements and child welfare procedures.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and case management skills.
- Ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and manage sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion.
