School Services Behavioral Health Specialist

Job Summary
Provide community-based case management for a diverse caseload of children and families with mental health and substance use diagnoses in Lorain County. Responsibilities include monitoring client symptoms and treatment response, maintaining service relationships with clients and caregivers, coordinating community resources and referrals, providing crisis intervention and stabilization, facilitating appointments to address physical, mental health, and substance use needs, reviewing evaluations to inform individualized treatment plans, participating in agency/clinical meetings and trainings, maintaining timely documentation and confidentiality, and collaborating with supervisors and other professionals. The role also involves supporting treatment coordination, care planning, and service linkage through Therapeutic Behavioral Service (TBS) activities such as consultation, referral/linkage, evidence-based interventions, and skill restoration. Education/experience requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of relevant behavioral health experience with competencies in engagement, de-escalation, documentation, and understanding of the mental health system. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years relevant experience in behavioral health skills
- Understanding of human behavior, mental illness, psychiatric symptoms, and impact on functioning
- Understanding of de-escalation techniques
- Ability to engage mentally ill individuals therapeutically
- Knowledge of mental health system and recovery principles
- Ability to document accurately and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work varied hours including days/evenings/weekends as needed
- Ability to travel to community and client homes
