Job Summary
Patrol school campuses and respond to emergency situations on campus and adjacent areas. Conduct threat assessments, detain or arrest perpetrators of offenses, and originate police reports following Duval County Public School Police Department procedures. Meet with school principals daily, develop strategies to prevent dangerous situations, and provide educational leadership on tobacco, alcohol, drug issues, and violence prevention to students, parents, and faculty. Act as a communication liaison with law enforcement agencies and refer students to appropriate assistance agencies. This one-year probationary role requires a certified Florida law enforcement officer and a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must possess and maintain current Certification by the State of Florida as a law enforcement officer
- Must complete the State of Florida School Resource Officer (SRO) Basic Training Course
- Valid Florida Driver's License
