Job Summary
Monitor school safety and interact professionally with students while serving as a School Resource Officer. Conduct screenings to ensure officers maintain professionalism and distinguish themselves from armed security guards. Complete the MDE-SRO Basic Course or NASRO training with state-specific content within two years of appointment. Submit a clear background check and drug test results. Finish the Police Officer Basic Course, ensuring Reserve Basic is not accepted. Print and notarize the Peace Officer Training Form(s) before uploading to the application or delivering to LCSD Central Office.
Required Qualifications
- At least 24 years old
- At least 3 years of full-time law enforcement experience prior to SRO assignment
- Completion of the MDE - SRO - Basic Course within two years of appointment OR the National Association of SRO (NASRO) Basic School Resource Officer Training plus eight hours of MDE state specific content training
- Clear background check
- Clear drug test
- Completion of the Police Officer Basic Course (Reserve Basic is not acceptable)
