Job Summary
The School Psychologist provides comprehensive school psychological services to students in elementary, junior high and high schools, under the direction of the Coordinator of School Psychological Services. Responsibilities include evaluating and identifying potential special education needs, consulting on educational and mental health needs, applying psychological and mental health principles in the school setting, supporting data-based decision making, developing behavioral supports, assisting in IEP/504 planning, delivering social skills training and counseling as appropriate, coordinating with community agencies, conducting psychological and educational assessments, providing crisis intervention, and offering staff training and program development to improve student outcomes. The role may involve working across multiple campuses and requires collaboration with staff to evaluate and improve learning outcomes while adhering to NASP/APA ethical standards and professional certification requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or a related field
- Master’s degree in psychology or special education
- School Psychologist Certification by Arizona Department of Education or Psychologist License by Arizona State Board of Psychologist Examiners
- Hours of supervised internship
- 1-3 years of experience in school or clinical psychology
- Evidence of highly qualified status
- Three letters of recommendation
- Transcript of credits
- Arizona certification (required for application)
- IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (required for application)
