Job Summary

School Psychologist (SSRCE) provides consultation, assessment, and intervention services to support student mental health, academic achievement, and well-being across 23 schools in the SSRCE region. Responsibilities include consultation with school personnel, parents/guardians, and outside agencies; conducting formal and informal assessments; interpreting results; reporting; developing and implementing interventions and IPPs; delivering professional development; contributing to trauma-informed practices; and remaining current in best practices. Requires registration with the NS Board of Psychology, a graduate degree in psychology, extensive psychology training, strong teamwork and communication skills, advanced technology proficiency, and the ability to present information clearly to diverse stakeholders. Must comply with Child Abuse Registry and Criminal/Vulnerable Sector checks.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered with NS Board of Psychology
  • Graduate degree in psychology
  • Extensive training and experience in psychology
  • Experience: The ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment
  • Advanced technological skills
  • The ability to conduct presentations based on current best practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to introduce a positive influence to initiatives
  • The ability to apply psychological knowledge to support student mental health, academic achievement and overall well-being
  • Provides consultation services to school/region personnel, parents/guardians, and outside agencies
  • Provides assessment services including observation, interviewing, data collection, informal/formal testing, reporting
  • Provides intervention services including planning and implementing interventions, collaboration on IPPs, crisis intervention, short-term counselling
  • Complies with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Performs other related duties as required
  • Security checks: Child Abuse Register Check and Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Checks required
