School Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Special Education Counselor

Job Summary

Assess students' intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning through psychological evaluations and observations to determine eligibility for special education services. Develop individualized behavior management plans and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) while participating in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committees. Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions, consult with teachers and medical professionals, and lead staff training on behavioral interventions. Manage ongoing evaluation of psychological services, compile case records and test inventories, and provide clinical supervision to interns or trainees. This role requires a Master's degree, valid Texas licensure, and one year of experience in an educational setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Valid Texas license as a school psychologist
  • Trainee Status Letter issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Valid Texas Educational Diagnostician certificate
  • Principal certification
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate in a special education field
  • Experience in facilitating ARD meeting
  • Knowledge of procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposes
  • Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions
  • Knowledge of psycho-social development
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • One year experience providing psychology services in an educational setting
  • Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Occasional heaving lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities
  • Controlling behavior through physical restraint
  • Assisting nonambulatory students
  • Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases
  • Districtwide travel

Desired Qualifications

  • Principal certification preferred
  • Experience in facilitating ARD meeting preferred
