Job Summary
Complete psychological evaluations within IEP timelines and assess eligibility for special services. Consult with teachers, families, and mental health professionals to support psychological needs and coordinate community providers. Communicate evaluation results and collaborate on designing mental-health intervention and prevention programs. Provide direct support and interventions to students while evaluating and reporting on progress. Create coordinated plans and advocate for student needs within a K-8 setting serving predominantly students and families of color. Work full-time from 7:45-3:15 pm (extended Wednesdays) at The Learning Community Charter School in Central Falls, Rhode Island. Salary ranges from $55,000 to $93,000.
Required Qualifications
- School Psychologist certificate from the Rhode Island Department of Education
- U.S. citizenship, residency, or valid work visa
- Proactive, organized approach to advocating for and meeting student needs
- Keen attention to detail when it comes to scheduling students, managing their caseload and prioritizing their time
- Strong problem-solving skills, judgment and resilience
- Creativity, problem-solving and an adaptable approach to most challenges
- Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, leaders and families
- Strong lens on equity and inclusion
- Understanding of how inequity shows up in special education and general education settings
- Inclusive approach to communicating with and engaging families across lines of race and other dimensions of identity difference
