Job Summary
Administer and interpret standardized assessments to evaluate cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral functioning, guiding staff in achievement tests. Conduct comprehensive psychological and psycho-educational evaluations to inform eligibility determinations and intervention planning. Develop and implement evidence-based interventions and instructional supports for students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills. Assist in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans, providing input on assessment results and progress. Provide direct counseling services to students and consult with families regarding resources. Participate in IEP processes, support systematic intervention through data collection and progress monitoring, and conduct risk assessments for students experiencing emotional or behavioral crises. Maintain accurate records of caseloads, schedules, and service logs while demonstrating professionalism in handling confidential matters. Pursue ongoing professional development to stay informed about current practices and research.
Required Qualifications
- Valid licensure for the state they are working in
- Colorado: School Psychologist Special Services license issued by the Colorado Department of Education
- Georgia: Georgia Professional Standards Commission certificate with the School Psychology Service Field endorsement based on completion of a state-approved certification preparation program in School Psychology at the specialist degree level or higher
- Indiana: School Psychologist license from both the Indiana Department of Education and the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency
- Louisiana: Provisional, Level B, Level A, or Supervisor School Psychologist license issued by the Louisiana Department of Education
- Michigan: Michigan School Psychologist certificate or Preliminary School Psychologist certificate issued by the Michigan Department of Education
- New York: Psychologist license issued by the New York State Education Department
- North Carolina: School Psychologist license issued by the North Carolina Department of Education
- Ohio: Ohio State Board approved School Psychologist license and Ohio Department of Education Pupil Services license with the School Psychologist endorsement
- Wisconsin: Pupil Services license in School Psychology issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
