Job Summary
School Psychologist conducts tests and evaluates the needs and educational programs of referred students; plans and assists in implementation of programs to enable students to attain appropriate achievement and adjustment; consults with teachers and parents regarding such needs and/or issues. Administers individual and group psychodiagnostic evaluations and conducts observations for assessment of intelligence, achievement, adaptive behavior, emotional/personal/social adjustment, and related areas; prepares written reports with recommendations; develops and evaluates functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans; participates in conferences with parents, teachers and principals; supervises school psychology interns/practicum students; collaborates with community health agencies to support students and families; participates in division-wide committees and school crisis plans. Requires Ed.S or equivalent and Virginia licensure eligibility, 10.5-month contract, Staunton, VA locations within the division; background checks and required trainings; delivers in-service training and supports teachers and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Ed.S Degree or equivalent from an approved program in school psychology or eligibility for DOE licensure in Virginia
- Completed a school year of full-time supervised internship (12 graduate semester hours or equivalent) in an accredited school with experience at multiple age levels
- Ability to provide own transportation to school-related functions and locations within the division
- Background checks and training certificates required (Child Abuse and Neglect Training)
- Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited college or university and meet the FLSA Exempt status requirements
