Job Summary

Conduct pupil evaluations using diagnostic procedures and prepare individual reports to develop individualized education programs for eligible students. Counsel with pupils and parents while conferring with teachers and other personnel regarding student progress and behavior. Summarize evaluation data and consult with stakeholders to plan interventions supporting student growth. Participate in conferences for pupil placement and adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics and district policies. Perform duties as necessary under the supervision of the Special Education Coordinator or Principal within the Owensboro Public Schools.

Required Qualifications

  • Kentucky Rank I certification as a school psychologist
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to kneel, squat, and sit on the floor
  • Must be able to bend at the waist, twist, turn, and stand and walk intermittently throughout a typical work day
  • Trained in and utilizing restraint and seclusion
  • Less than 10% out of district travel
  • Daily as needed within district boundaries travel
  • Abides by the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Certified School Personnel
  • Adheres to the requirements of any District or school employee handbook, Owensboro Board of Education policies, and all applicable laws and regulations
  • Acts in accordance with the by-laws and policies as set forth by the Owensboro Board of Education, KRS and KAR, and applicable Federal laws and regulations
  • Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Owensboro Public Schools

Desired Qualifications

  • At least three years work experience as a public school psychologist preferred
