Job Summary

Conduct supervision, development, and implementation of academic, enrichment, and social-emotional well-being for groups of 10-20 youth in the after-school program. Oversee participants, demonstrate positive role modeling, and provide guidance while organizing age-appropriate materials and supplies. Assist students in improving academic skills, reach performance goals in core subjects, and provide tutoring support. Plan and coordinate daily schedules, curriculum, and events including sports, arts, and leadership development. Recruit and promote the program to school youth and parents, maintain accurate records, and ensure program attendance goals are met. Monitor student behavior using appropriate corrective strategies, ensure safety and emergency procedures, and report progress to the Site Supervisor. Collaborate with school personnel to meet grant, district, and SBCS objectives.

Required Qualifications

Must be one-year removed from high school graduation
Three years removed from graduation/matriculation from SUHSD school you are applying to
Must meet and provide documentation of the minimum qualifications for Classroom Assistant if candidate does not have 48 college credits
Must be highly dependable
Must have a warm and friendly personality and the sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse population
Must have the ability to lead sports, games and curriculum activities, and monitor behavior
Ability to provide leadership and stability to the program
Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift
Moves throughout the building
Moves, raises, or lowers (includes upward pulling) an object or equipment up to 50 lbs
Transports an object, from 20 to 50 lbs, across the facility, for various needs
Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force
Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)
Ascending or descending stairs and ladders when applicable
