Job Summary
Cleans, dices, chops, and portions vegetables and fruits; prepares meats, entrees, soups, sandwiches, and hot and cold beverages. Sets up and stocks cold and hot food counters, serves food to students and faculty, and operates kitchen equipment including dishwashers, mixers, ovens, and tilt skillets. Washes dishes, pots, and pans; cleans kitchen equipment and work areas by sweeping and mopping floors. Unpacks and stores supplies in designated areas. May act as cashier, recognizing federal complete meals, making change, and adding money to accounts while interacting with students, staff, and community members. Rotate cooking with other workers as needed. Performs varied food service duties requiring close attention to food safety and sanitation procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Knowledge of food service methods and practices, including proper food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to read and interpret standardized recipes and other technical documents
- Excellent customer relations skills
- Ability to perform varied food service work including food preparation, serving, clean up, and cashiering
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers and work cooperatively with others
- Normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies
- Ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
