Job Summary
Prepare and serve food items to students and staff according to standardized recipes and nutritional requirements while monitoring kitchen and cafeteria areas for safety and sanitation. Clean linens, utensils, and equipment; evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature; and inventory supplies to ensure menu availability. Maintain records of leftovers, student lunch balances, and money reconciliation; report equipment malfunctions and needed supplies to the manager. Merchandise food and beverage items efficiently and perform cashiering duties as requested to ensure adequate staff coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of high school
- Good moral character
- Ability to lift and/or move thirty (30) to fifty (50) pounds
- Ability to perform significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling
- Ability to perform some climbing and balancing
- Ability to perform frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
- Ability to perform significant fine finger dexterity
- Ability to work under some temperature extremes
- Ability to work under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness
- Ability to adhere to safety practices
- Ability to perform quality cooking
- Ability to operate equipment such as telephones
- Ability to operate equipment found in a commercial kitchen
- Ability to perform basic math
- Ability to read and follow instructions
- Ability to understand multi-step written and oral instructions
- Ability to understand safety and sanitation practices and procedures
- Ability to understand quantity food preparation and handling
