Job Summary
Manage all processes related to food safety, sanitation, ordering, production, storage, and meal service while ensuring safe, nutritious meals for every customer. Provide leadership to food assistants, implement federal and state school nutrition policies, and maintain the school nutrition budget. Deliver nutrition education to students and the community, develop participation plans, and collaborate with SNP staff and stakeholders. Participate in professional learning opportunities and support staff development. Maintain attendance, conduct activities safely, and adhere to strict confidentiality regarding financial and personal data.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to interpret financial data as it relates to the operation of the school
- Ability to identify concerns in financial management and operational management of the program within the school
- Must be able to facilitate the problem solving processes
- Must have ability to synthesize workable options from given facts
- Must have the ability to assist in the development of workable solutions to address concerns
- Must have considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
- Completion of ONE required within one year of employment
- Completion of TID 2, TID 3, and TID 4 required within first four years of employment
- ServSafe certification required within one year of employment
- ServSafe certification maintained throughout employment as a School Nutrition Manager
- Must be at work on time
- Must meet attendance standards
- Must conduct activities safely
- Must be able to exert or lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to withstand extreme ranges in temperature and humidity levels for long periods of time
- Must be able to work while standing on hard surfaces for long periods of time
- Visual awareness is required to ensure food safety and for observing general surroundings and activities
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of three years experience in the food service industry preferred
- Completion of the Houston County Assistant Manager School Nutrition Program preferred
