Job Summary
Conduct daily food preparation, cooking, and dish washing while maintaining high standards of cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment. Complete production records, forecast batch cooking, and operate computers to record customer accounts and generate reports. Communicate positively with students, staff, vendors, and parents while safely operating mechanical kitchen equipment. This role involves sustained standing, frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, and working at a fast pace. Food Safety Training must be completed within the first week of employment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Some experience in food preparation
- Computer knowledge
- Simple arithmetic, reading skills, and recipe preparation
- Ability to complete production records daily
- Manual skills for cleaning and sanitizing food preparation equipment
- Communication skills to communicate positively and effectively with students, staff, vendors and parents
- Customer Service winning attitude
- Mechanical skills to safely operate kitchen equipment
- Planning skills to forecast batch cooking
- Software/word processing skills to operate computer to record customer accounts and to possibly assist manager with daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reports
- Work involves sustained standing and frequent lifting, bending, and pulling
- Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
- Frequent movement at a fast pace
- USDA requires all employees that work in Child Nutrition to complete a specified number of hours of training / continuing education each year
- Food Safety Training required within to be completed within the first week of employment
