Job Summary

Prepare and serve food according to school nutrition policies while cleaning and maintaining food service areas. Store, care for, and clean supplies; record daily food usage and maintain required forms. Perform manual tasks in food production, meal service, and dishwashing, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing kitchen and dining rooms. Reconcile cash receipts, process meal charges, and interpret computer information regarding free and reduced meals. Maintain personal hygiene, observe safety precautions, and adjust to new situations. Complete 30-hour orientation within one year and attend required workshops.

  • Ability to read and write
  • Proficient in reading, writing and comprehending English
  • Ability to adjust to new and/or emergency situations
  • Ability to work successfully with school personnel and students
  • Some knowledge of proper methods of preparing, cooking and serving food
  • Must have the knowledge of measurement

  • Subject to noisy work environment
  • Exposure to very hot foods, equipment and metal objects
  • Working around knives, slicers, and other sharp objects
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and fumes
