Job Summary
Supervises cafeteria staff and supports the School Nutrition program under the School Nutrition Training Manager and School Cafeteria Manager. Applies planned menus with substitutions, assists in food preparation and line service, and displays food for school activities. Learns to requisition foods and supplies, verify cost/quantity/quality of items, manage storage, and rotate stock. Supports sanitation and safety, enforces hygiene codes, and may assist with cleaning schedules. Communicates with students, parents, and school staff; assists in planning and producing events for the nutrition program. Requires basic arithmetic, ability to train personnel, coordinate activities, maintain records, and use basic computer software related to food service operations. ServSafe certification is required for managers.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- three years of experience in food service, or two years of formal training in food service and one year of experience in food service
- Managers are also required to obtain and keep current ServSafe Certification
