Job Summary
School Nutrition Assistant responsibilities include preparing and serving breakfast and lunch to students and staff, maintaining equipment/workstations per guidelines, handling cashier duties, and assisting the School Nutrition Manager. Requires knowledge of food preparation and service, food safety/HACCP practices, operating cafeteria equipment, and providing courteous customer service in a fast-paced school environment. Preferred qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, school cafeteria experience, POS software familiarity, and the potential to obtain NC school bus CDLs and endorsements. The role involves adherence to USDA and health regulations, teamwork with staff, and participating in trainings and events.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to read, speak, and understand English
- Ability to operate Point of Sale system
- North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with school bus certification and P&S endorsements (preferred)
